Prosecutors listen to Iraqi official's testimony over Dahabi's receiving 5.5million JD allegations

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS- Amman General Prosecutor on Thursday listened to the former Iraqi minister of military manufacturing during Saddam Hussian era, Abd Al-Towab Mulla Hwaish over bribery charges against former chief of the General Intelligence Department (GID), Mohammad Dahbi.

Dahbi was charged of receiving bribe to release an Iraqi official from jail, the family of the Iraqi official offered 5.5million JD to Dahbi and a score of his friends to intervene with the deal by discussing with the Iraqi government to release the former Iraqi minister of military manufacturing, Abd Al-Towab Hwaish who was listed in the Usa's top 55 wanted list for Iraqi officials during Saddam Hussian era, and he was detained 2003 and was released in 2006.

The son of the Iraqi official filed a law suit two weeks ago against Dahbi accusing him of receiving bribe and for fraud.

The son previously filed a complaint against Dahbi to GID, while Dahbi was chief of the department and the son was surprised when he received his departure notice from Jordan and he did not return until Dahbi retired.

Prosecutors ordered the arrest of the former head of the intelligence agency, who is accused of money laundering, embezzlement and abuse of public office, and the Court of First Instance in Amman rejected the 8th bail petition which was submitted by the defense team of Dahabi.

General Dahabi was GID director from 2005 to January 2008, when a royal decree replaced him with Gen. Muhammad Raqqad.
