Ammon News - AMMONNEWS -Hundreds of Jordanians poured to the streets after Friday prayers protesting corruption, and calling comprehensive democratic reforms.
The demonstration was witnessed in downtown Amman where tens of hundreds of citizens marched from Al Husseini mosque toward Al Nakhil Square raising Jordanian flags.
Security and police were on standby in the vicinity of the mosque, no confrontations with protestors were reported as demonstration organizers stressed that the protests are peaceful and organized.
Political parties, including the Islamist movement represented by the Islamic Action Front (IAF) and the Muslim Brotherhood, and the National Front for Reforms NFR-which organized the rally and other groups participated in the downtown Amman demonstrations.
"We came here today to insist on our demands for comprehensive reforms that would end unilateral decision-making," Ahmad Obeidat, former prime minister and intelligence chief, who now heads the National Reform Front, told the protesters, amid tight security.
"The corrupt have stolen our wasted state sources and stole public funds in the absence of accountability. Fighting corruption is a national duty," he said, urging a tough anti-corruption strategy.
