Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – Security forces on Sunday cordoned off the building housing the Syrian Embassy in Amman after hundreds of angry syrian citizens tried to storm the building in protest of claimed assault on Syrians inside the embassy.
Protestors claimed that five Syrian nationals suffered beatings inside the embassy at the hands of embassy guards on Sunday morning when they entered the embassy wearing scarfs depicting the Syrian independence (revolution) flag.
The Embassy building in the Abdoun neighborhood in Amman witnessed heavy security presence who prevented the protestors from storming into the building, which has seen numerous protests in the past several months against the regime of Bashar Assad.
Two of the men were injured and transferred to the hospital after suffering from wounds as a result of beatings with electric sticks by embassy security men, while two others were taken to the police station after being arrested, eye-witnesses told Ammon News.
Meanwhile, one of the young men, Ahmad Shreiqi, who was detained inside the embassy was taken to the Bayader Wadi Sir hospital.
His father told Ammon News that Shreiqi was badly beaten and has bruises throughout his body.
Eye-witnesses added that the two other Syrian nationals were also badly beaten, and they remain in the police station.
Dozens of Syrian nationals in Jordan protested in front of the embassy, calling for the release of Shreiqi, amid heavy security presence.
