AMMONNEWS - Thousands of activists on Friday marched in downtown Amman in a pro-reform demonstration organized by a coalition of reform movements.

The protestors chanted slogans against the Jordanian parliament and government, calling for their ouster and blasting what they considering rampant and endemic corruption.

The demonstration launched from Al Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman following Friday midday prayer, with protestors marching towards Al Nakhil Square in Ras El Ain calling for genuine political reforms.

Protestors also blasted the 2011 draft of the Anti-Corruption Commission bill which includes an Article that stipulates hefty fines on exposing corruption, chanting "a journalist pays thousands to expose the corrupt."

A large placard was raised, entitled "Names of the Corruption Team" which included names of important Jordanian figures.

The placard, according to the protestors raising it, comes in response to the state's intention to pass Article 23 of the Anti-Corruption Law.

Friday's protest witnessed the participation of the Jordanian Front for Reform and a number of pro-reform movements in coordination with demonstrations in other cities throughout the Kingdom under the banner of "Eradicating Corruption."
