Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – A Jordanian judge, Hatem Abu Azzam, refused Wednesday morning to hand over a Jordanian citizen to the Israeli authorities in accordance with article 21 of the Jordanian constitution.
According to an informed source the Israeli authorities requested their Jordanian counterparts to hand over a Jordanian citizen. In keeping with the law on surrendering criminals the Jordanian authorities transferred the matter to the court who ruled in favour of the citizen.
The Israeli authorities had accused the Jordanian of murder after he had left Israel.
Article 21 stated that:
(i) Political refugees shall not be extradited on account of their political beliefs or for their defence of liberty.
(ii) Extradition of ordinary criminals shall be regulated by international agreements and laws.
