Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Diplomats at the Israeli Embassy in Amman on Wednesday evening were asked to return to Israel ahead of a protest planned to take place in front of the Embassy on Thursday.

A Facebook page under the banner of "No Zionist Embassy on Jordanian Land" called for a major protest in front of the embassy to call on the Jordanian government to expel the Israeli diplomatic mission from Jordan.

Israeli media outlets reported Wednesday night that unlike the diplomatic mission in Egypt where diplomats lived with their families, in Amman the Israeli delegation serves without their families and comes home for weekends.

The Facebook page called for closing the Israeli Embassy in Amman and severing diplomatic ties with the state of Israel.

The Israeli decision to evacuate its embassy in Amman Wendesday evening came days after the 13-hour rampage at the Israeli embassy in Cairo in which Egyptian protestors stormed into the embassy.
