Jordan firmly enounces Israeli strike on UNRWA clinic in Gaza

02-04-2025 10:29 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs has strongly condemned Israel's recent attack on a United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) clinic in the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

The attack resulted in the deaths of 19 people, including children, and left many others injured. This act represents a serious violation of international law and humanitarian principles, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Sufyan Qudah, the Ministry's official spokesperson, expressed Jordan's firm rejection of the ongoing assault on UNRWA's operations in the occupied Palestinian territories. He highlighted the attack on the Jabalia clinic and the intentional arson at the agency’s Jerusalem headquarters as blatant violations of international law and United Nations resolutions.

Qudah stated that these actions are a deliberate effort to undermine UNRWA's critical role in safeguarding the rights of Palestinian refugees, including their right of return and compensation under international law.

He stressed that these attacks, particularly amidst the renewed Israeli offensive in Gaza and the closure of humanitarian aid crossings, are designed to deprive Palestinians of essential services.

The Ministry called on the international community to take strong action against Israel's policies and the ongoing targeting of UNRWA, an agency that plays an essential role.

Jordan urged the international community to provide both political and financial support to ensure UNRWA can continue its crucial services for Palestinian refugees.
