Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Muhammad Obeidat, called on candidates running for the parliamentary elections to be mindful of traffic safety measures in posting their campaign advertisements.
In a letter sent to the Minister of Interior, Obeidat called on administrative officials in all governorates to warn candidates against posting campaign advertisement on traffic signs, bridges, and traffic lights, and in any location that may obstruct traffic or endanger public safety.
Obeidat said in the letter that candidates in previous campaigns posted their advertisement on traffic signs and posts, a matter that obstructed traffic and ruined the signs, necessitating the ministry to repaint and repair them.
He noted that in accordance with the Public Roads Law for year 1986, expenses resulting from damages to public signs and posts will be incurred on violating candidates according to legal measures stipulated by the law.
The Minister called on candidates to abide by posting their advertisement in the slots allocated by local authorities for campaigning purposes in an effort to maintain traffic safety and prevent traffic accidents and chaos that may result from obstructing traffic signs.
