Ammon News - Traffic departments have confirmed their full readiness to manage and ease traffic flow, remove any obstacles that could affect road movement, and handle increased traffic activity over the weekend.
A representative of the Traffic Department stressed that driving against the direction of traffic on roads divided by a central median is considered a serious traffic violation that could cause collisions, injuries, and fatalities.
He explained that the violation carries a JD 250 fine, vehicle impoundment for 14 days, and suspension of the driver's license for 60 days, if the violation is recorded in the driver's presence, in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
He pointed out that driving against traffic, even for short distances, poses a danger to drivers and other road users, particularly as some motorists commit this violation to take shortcuts. This can lead to head-on collisions, with the risk increasing as the speed of oncoming vehicles rises.
He urged drivers to abide by traffic rules and right-of-way regulations and to avoid reckless behavior, stressing the importance of raising traffic awareness to protect citizens, reduce accidents, and help ensure a safe road environment.
