Ammon News - Public Security Director (PSD) Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Al-Maaytah said the Karak crime had not been planned in advance, explaining that the three individuals were following behind the funeral procession when they decided to commit the crime.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Al-Maaytah added that the decision resulted from their shared extremist thinking, ideological deviation from the right path, and adoption of extremist ideology and terrorism.
He explained that the three individuals left the scene in a single vehicle, which was seized, and that the link between the individuals and the vehicle had also been established.
Al-Maaytah said several weapons and a large quantity of ammunition were seized from the three terrorists following the exchange of fire.
He explained that raid teams had continuously searched designated areas over the previous three days. Shortly after midnight on Sunday, one village was divided into sectors, and several abandoned houses were identified for inspection and searches by specialized teams.
He added that a wide geographical area encompassing several villages, mountainous terrain and rugged valleys was identified. The necessary measures were taken to isolate the area and secure its perimeter by establishing roadblocks, deploying patrols and using drones to ensure the terrorists were surrounded.
The operation resulted in securing the building and arresting the three terrorists, all of whom were injured. They were transferred to hospital and remain under treatment, with questioning to begin once circumstances permit.
Al-Maaytah confirmed that investigations began immediately after the crime and proceeded along two tracks. The first focused on criminal and proactive investigations, gathering information and collecting evidence from the crime scene. The second focused on strengthening emergency response, security enforcement and systems, conducting search and intervention operations, and tracing the terrorists' movements and the routes they had taken.
He noted that authorities were relying on extensive available information provided by numerous individuals who believe that Jordan must remain an oasis of security and stability.
He stressed that Jordan would remain resilient against anyone who sought to undermine its security.
