22-09-2010 12:00 AM

Ammon News - German Rock music is coming to Amman
For the first time in the Middle East:

“Die Toten Hosen” play in King Hussein Park on 2 October 2010

AMMONNEWS - "Die Toten Hosen", one of the biggest, if not the biggest German rock band, is playing in Amman's King Hussein Park on 2 October 2010.

Their concert will kick off the “German Days”, a series of events organised by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and other German institutions in Jordan, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the German Re-Unification. The Jordanian band “El Morabba3” will play as supporting act.

“Die Toten Hosen” (which translates roughly as “The dead boring”) have published 19 studio albums and sold over 22 million records since their debut in 1982. They headline big open air festivals, like the renowned German "Rock am Ring", and play in large arenas as well as small clubs. Their tours have taken them to Latin America, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Their appearence in Amman is their first performance in the Middle East. Their concerts are full of energy, their music still reflects their beginnings as punk rock band and the lyrics of their songs reveal a wicked sense of humour.

El Morabba3 is an independent band from Jordan, dealing with all issues not covered on the front pages. Their music has been influenced by Arabic as well as eastern and western tunes.
The concert, which is organised by the German Embassy in Amman, will take place in the amphitheatre in King Hussein Park on Saturday 2 October 2010, at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at Goethe Institut Amman, OrangeRed, Blue Fig – Abdoun, Books@Café (off Rainbow Street), Turtle Green (Rainbow Street), Moka Café and Music Box – 7th circle.

Germany was re-unified on 3 October 1990, after the Federal Republic of Germany and the Democratic Republic of Germany, together with the four Allied powers of the Second World War, had signed the so -called “Two-plus-Four-Agreement”. With this agreement, the Allied powers (Great Britain, United States of America, Soviet Union and France) gave up any rights and responsibilities relating to Berlin and Germany, clearing the way for a sovereign German state.
