Ammon News - The Director of Education for the Northeastern Badia District, in coordination with the administrative governor, has decided to suspend classes at schools in Ruwaished District on Sunday, October 11, 2026, due to prevailing weather conditions.
Unstable weather conditions affecting Jordan are expected to intensify on Sunday, with heavy showers forecast for short periods, particularly in the southern, eastern and central regions, including the city of Aqaba. The rainfall may be accompanied by thunder, lightning and occasional hail, amid warnings of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, as well as reduced horizontal visibility due to dust.
Tareq Al-Shar’an, a weather forecaster at the Jordan Meteorological Department, said the weather system is expected to peak on Sunday afternoon and during the evening hours, with its effects continuing through Monday.
He noted that satellite and radar images showed cumulonimbus and thunderclouds moving from southern Jordan toward the northeast, accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of Tafileh, Karak and eastern Ma’an.
According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), limited areas in the northern regions may also experience scattered showers. Southeasterly winds are expected to be moderate, becoming active at intervals with occasional strong gusts that may stir up dust in the Badia regions.
Al-Shar’an warned the public against approaching flood channels and low-lying areas, urging caution during thunderstorms.
