Electrical short circuit caused fire that killed 3 siblings in Zarqa

06-09-2026 12:34 PM

Ammon News - The uncle of the three siblings who died in a fire that broke out inside a residential apartment in Zarqa on Sunday said security authorities determined that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in a fan inside the children’s room.

The children’s uncle added that the fire started in the children’s room while they were asleep, while their parents were in an adjacent room. He noted that the parents suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for treatment.

He said security authorities responded quickly after being alerted to the fire and dealt with the incident, bringing the blaze under control.

The uncle said the deceased children were a seven-month-old girl and two boys aged 4 and 7.

He confirmed that the parents’ health condition is good and stable, and that they were affected by smoke inhalation inside the home.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) had earlier said that firefighting and ambulance teams from the Zarqa Civil Defense Directorate responded to a fire that broke out inside an apartment on the fourth floor of a four-story residential building in Zarqa Governorate.
