Ammon News - The Southern Military Zone foiled an attempt early Monday to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons after detecting them as they attempted to cross the border into Jordanian territory.
Border Guard units within the zone's area of responsibility tracked the balloons, intercepted them, and brought them down inside Jordan. The narcotics they were carrying were seized in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The confiscated materials were referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
In a separate incident, the Eastern Military Zone also thwarted an attempt early Monday to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons within its area of responsibility.
Border Guard units detected the balloons, intercepted them, and brought them down inside Jordanian territory, seizing the narcotics they carried in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army reaffirmed their commitment to firmly confronting smuggling and infiltration attempts along the Kingdom’s borders, monitoring the various methods used in such operations, and taking the necessary operational measures to thwart them.
Border Guard units continue to carry out their duties in safeguarding Jordan’s borders and countering any attempts that could threaten the country's security and stability.
