Prime Minister inaugurates new Mafraq Park

23-08-2026 10:45 AM

Ammon News - Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan inaugurated the new Mafraq Park on Sunday, covering an area of 200 dunums, making it the first park of its kind in the governorate.

Hassan directed the rehabilitation of the sports facilities affiliated with Al al-Bayt University to integrate them with the park and make them available to serve the public.

The park was completed within 18 months of the government’s decision to establish it.

It includes 10,000 trees planted at the beginning of this year, providing green spaces and recreational areas as part of the government’s policy to expand public parks and recreational facilities.

The park offers comprehensive recreational facilities, rest areas and safe spaces for families, children and young people, as well as 600-meter-long walking and cycling paths and parking areas capable of accommodating hundreds of vehicles.

It also features four sports fields, a large outdoor fitness area, part of which will be designated for senior citizens, three spacious children’s playgrounds and service facilities to meet visitors’ needs. Surveillance cameras have also been installed to safeguard the park’s facilities.

The park was expanded during the initial stages of its development to serve the largest possible number of citizens and visitors and to accommodate a wider range of sports and recreational activities.

The park was established as part of the government’s efforts to expand public parks and recreational facilities for families.

Other projects completed include Al-Nashama Park in Marj Al-Hamam, the Dead Sea Corniche and the tourist beach, alongside other projects currently underway to serve citizens.

The sports facilities affiliated with Al al-Bayt University, which the Prime Minister ordered to be rehabilitated and integrated with the new Mafraq Park, include a large stadium surrounded by stands, 10 football, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, and a racing track. The facilities will be made available to support youth and sports activities in the governorate.
