Ammon News - Jordan's national football team will begin a new technical era on Thursday under the leadership of Moroccan coach Badou Zaki, who will make his first appearance before the media since signing with the team. He is expected to outline his vision for the next phase and the challenges awaiting the "Nashama," most notably the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The Jordan Football Association (JFA) will officially introduce the new coach during a press conference at its headquarters at 12:00 noon.
The JFA recently announced the appointment of Zaki as head coach of the national team on a one-year contract, with an option to renew by mutual agreement, as part of preparations for upcoming competitions.
Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association, expressed confidence in Zaki and his coaching staff to achieve further success with the national team. In a post on X on Wednesday, he said he was pleased to welcome Zaki and wished him and the team success in the coming stage as Jordan continues its football achievements.
"Our confidence in Coach Badou and his staff is great, and God willing, together we will achieve more accomplishments for the Nashama," Prince Ali wrote.
Zaki boasts an impressive football career. He was the goalkeeper of the Moroccan national team that made history at the 1986 FIFA World Cup by reaching the Round of 16 for the first time. He was also named African Footballer of the Year in 1986 and enjoyed a distinguished professional career with Spanish club Mallorca.
As a coach, Zaki guided Morocco to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations final and has managed several clubs and national teams, including Wydad Casablanca, FUS Rabat, Kawkab Marrakech, Ittihad Tanger, as well as the national teams of Sudan and Niger.
