Anti-Narcotics campaign handles 117 crystal meth cases in third week

Ammon News - Anti-Narcotics Department personnel handled 117 cases involving crystal methamphetamine during the third week of a nationwide crackdown on the drug, the Public Security Directorate's media spokesperson said Sunday.

The cases included 26 involving the trafficking and dealing of crystal methamphetamine, with 41 people arrested in connection with those offenses, the spokesperson said.

In the remaining cases, authorities arrested 91 people for using crystal methamphetamine and seized varying quantities of the drug from those arrested.

The spokesperson stressed the campaign will continue without letup until it meets its goals, including raising public awareness of the drug's dangers and pursuing those involved in dealing with the drug.

The substance poses a serious threat to users and society, potentially causing death and contributing to serious crimes that endanger public safety, the spokesperson warned.

The spokesperson renewed his call for the public to fulfill its humanitarian and social responsibility by reporting any information about individuals or activities involving the drug through the unified emergency number 911, adding that all reports will be handled with strict confidentiality.
