Ammon News - Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) on Tuesday hosted a "high-level" military meeting, bringing together Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, the Chief of the General Staff of the Syrian Army and Armed forces, the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, and the Kurdistan Regional Government's Peshmerga Affairs Minister.

According to a JAF statement, discussions affirmed the continuity of relations among the participating parties and their commitment to strengthening military cooperation and coordination amid rapidly evolving security challenges in the region, in a manner that serves shared interests and supports regional security and stability.

Participants also went over issues of mutual concern, mainly regional and border security amid current challenges, and ways to enhance coordination against cross-border threats and risks.

The officials stressed the importance of continued communication and information-sharing to strengthen the collective capacity to respond "effectively" to various challenges.

Noting regional developments require "greater" coordination and integrated efforts, the attendees said protecting borders and confronting security threats demand "sustained" joint action to bolster regional states' ability to safeguard their security, sovereignty and stability.

As for future vision, participants called for building on existing relations and expanding military and security cooperation to strengthen readiness for current and future challenges, serving the shared interests of regional states.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Huneiti met with the commander of the U.S. Central Command to discuss military cooperation and coordination, the latest regional developments, current security challenges and joint efforts to promote regional security and stability.

The statement said the event reflects the JAF "commitment" to strengthening ties with regional armies and developing coordination channels to help address shared challenges, protect border security and reinforce the foundations of regional security and stability.
