Jordan condemns Israeli police raid on UNRWA center

28-07-2026 01:32 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs condemned an Israeli police raid on UNRWA’s Kalandia Training Center in occupied Jerusalem, describing it as a flagrant breach of international law and a violation of the privileges and immunities of the United Nations and its agencies.

Ministry spokesperson Fuad Majali underscored Jordan’s unequivocal rejection and strong condemnation of Israel’s continued systematic campaign against UNRWA, its institutions, and its vital role.

He said the campaign constitutes a clear violation of international law and the International Court of Justice’s October 2025 advisory opinion, which affirmed Israel’s obligations to facilitate UNRWA’s operations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

Majali said the measures are an extension of the Israeli government’s extremist policies and its unlawful actions in the occupied West Bank. He added that they target UNRWA’s presence and symbolic significance in affirming Palestinian refugees’ right of return and compensation under international law, particularly UN General Assembly Resolution 194.

He warned of the consequences of Israel’s unlawful measures against UNRWA and its institutions, which provide indispensable services that cannot be replaced.

Majali called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities, oppose Israeli decisions and practices targeting UNRWA, and provide the political and financial support required for the agency to continue delivering vital services to Palestinian refugees across its five fields of operation under its UN mandate.
