Ammon News - The Lower House voted by a majority to approve Article 16 of the Professional Work Regulation Law, which imposes a fine on anyone who violates the provisions of the law and regulations issued under it, ranging between JD 200 and JD 1,000.

The Parliament approved a proposal by MP Mohammad Bani Melhem to remove the phrase: "The fine may not be reduced below its minimum limit for any reason based on discretionary mitigating circumstances."

The article, as originally submitted by the government, stated:

"Without prejudice to any more severe penalty stipulated in any other legislation, anyone who violates the provisions of this law or the regulations issued pursuant to it shall be punished with a fine of no less than JD200 dinars and no more than JD1,000. The fine may not be reduced below its minimum limit for any reason based on discretionary mitigating circumstances, and the court shall order the violator to remove the violation."

The Lower House concluded its discussions of the bill and approved it in its entirety.
