Ammon News - Firefighting teams from the East Amman Civil Defense Directorate responded on Monday morning to a fire that broke out in a four-story building in the Qweismeh area of the Capital Governorate.
The first floor of the building housed a carpentry workshop, wood storage, and a paint shop, while the second floor contained a furniture showroom. The upper floors consisted of residential apartments.
The Public Security Directorate's media spokesperson said firefighting crews successfully extinguished the blaze and brought it fully under control, preventing it from spreading to other floors and neighboring buildings despite the presence of highly flammable materials inside the facility.
Two people suffered breathing difficulties after inhaling smoke and gases emitted by the fire. Paramedics provided first aid at the scene before transferring them to Al Bashir Hospital. Their condition was reported as moderate.
The fire generated dense smoke due to the nature of the burning materials. Firefighting efforts involved personnel from the West and Central Amman Civil Defense Directorates, the Capital and Central Support Groups, as well as police and gendarmerie forces. Water tankers from the Greater Amman Municipality also assisted in the operation.
The relevant authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
