Ammon News - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' seizure of Greek Orthodox Patriarchate land in the town of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem.
The ministry said this move is a "blatant" violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and a breach of the historical and legal status quo.
In a statement Saturday, the ministry's official spokesperson, Fouad Majali, affirmed the Kingdom's "absolute" rejection of all unilateral and illegal measures and provocative practices, aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The ministry also said Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Majali urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and compel Israel to stop all its illegitimate and illegal actions in occupied Jerusalem and its ongoing violations of the historical and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Additionally, Majali noted the necessity of fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, primarily establishment of their independent state on their national soil, as the "sole" way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region.
