Ammon News - A noticeable drop in temperatures and a shift to unstable weather are shaping conditions on Monday, with authorities warning of flash floods, reduced visibility and hazardous road conditions, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

A relatively mild and moist air mass has moved across the country, bringing partly to mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers at intervals in several regions. Rainfall may be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, with a risk of short-lived heavy downpours, particularly in the northeastern Badia, where rising water levels and flash flooding in valleys and low-lying areas remain a concern.

Winds are expected to vary between northwesterly and easterly directions, blowing at moderate to active speeds with occasional strong gusts that may stir dust, especially in desert regions.

The Meteorological Department warned of reduced horizontal visibility during the early morning due to fog formation over the northern highlands, as well as dust reducing visibility in the Badia areas. It also cautioned against the risks of flash flooding, thunderstorms, hail, and slippery road conditions in areas experiencing rainfall.

Conditions are forecast to ease slightly on Tuesday, with mild weather across highlands and plains and relatively warmer conditions in low-lying areas. Cloud cover will persist, particularly in eastern regions, where intermittent showers may continue in parts of the northeastern Badia, occasionally accompanied by thunder and hail. Winds will remain northwesterly and moderate, becoming active at times.

A gradual improvement is expected from Wednesday, with a slight rise in temperatures bringing mild conditions across highlands and plains, and warmer weather elsewhere. High clouds are expected, while northwesterly winds remain moderate with intermittent activity.

Temperatures are set to rise further on Thursday, with mild conditions over mountainous areas and relatively warm to warm weather across other regions. Winds will continue northwesterly at moderate speeds, becoming active at times, particularly in desert areas.

Temperature ranges on Monday reflect the cooler pattern, with East Amman forecast between 24 C and 10 C, and West Amman between 22 C and 8 C. Northern highlands will record 20 C to 8 C, while the Sharah highlands range between 19 C and 7 C.

In the Badia, temperatures are expected between 27 C and 11 C, and in the plains between 25 C and 10 C. The northern Jordan Valley is forecast at 29 C to 13 C, rising to 32 C to 15 C in the southern valley. The Dead Sea will record 30 C to 14 C, while Aqaba reaches 31 C to 14 C. Petra
