Japanese Garden in Abdoun ..

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Amman Mayor Omar Maani and Japan's Ambassador to Jordan Tetsuo Shioguchi inaugurated on Tuesday the all-new Japanese Garden in Abdoun district in western Amman.

The garden is located on a three-dunam large land in Abdoun, aimed to "enrich the cultural diversity of the city," a statement by the Japanese Embassy in Amman said.

Mayor Maani said during the inauguration ceremony that Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) seeks to increase green spaces in the city, adding that the Japanese Garden constitutes an opportunity for Jordanians to get acquainted with the various elements of Japanese gardens, known for their elegance and beauty.

The statement added that the garden the garden’s elements, such as rocks, plants and bridges, were brought from Japan, mixed with stones and rocks from the Dead Sea, mafraq, and Petra and arranged to match the classical design of a traditional japanese garden.

The garden was designed according to traditional Japanese gardens dating back to ancient times by Japanese garden expert "Fukuda," exhibiting main elements of water, rock, plants, and bridges, in addition to a special area allocated for making tea - Japanese style.

Engineer Neibal Qattan, Director of Public Parks at GAM, said that the 3-dunum garden will enrich the cultural diversity of the city and give an opportunity to its visitors to learn about other cultures, in addition to constituting a beautiful and unique structure in the city.

The Commemorative Organisation for the Japan World Exposition ’70, the Greater Amman Municipality, Ikebana International, JICA and JT International (Jordan) Limited funded the garden.
