Ammon News - Google has confirmed end-to-end encryption is now available to Gmail users on iPhone and Android.
Individuals will be able to read and write emails with end-to-end encryption, meaning third-party protection apps are no longer needed.
End-to-end encryption is a communication method in which only the sender and recipient can read the messages. Tthird parties, hackers and service providers are unable to view the messages.
“With Gmail E2EE, your users can confidentially engage with your organization’s most sensitive data from anywhere on their mobile devices while ensuring data remains compliant and with your organizations [sic] sovereignty and compliance requirements,” Google said in a release.
“For the first time, users can compose and read these E2EE messages natively within the Gmail app on Android and iOS. No need to download extra apps or use mail portals,” it added.
Regardless of whether the recipient has a Gmail account, the email will be end-to-end encrypted.
Earlier this year, Google announced Gmail had new AI features, allowing users to have something of a personal assistant available for their emails.
