09-04-2026 02:31 PM

Ammon News - Senate President Faisal Fayez on Thursday held separate meetings with the ambassadors of Algeria, Iraq, and France to review relations and regional developments.

During his talks with Algerian Ambassador Abdelkrim Beha, Iraqi Ambassador Omar Barzanji, and French Ambassador Franck Gellet, Fayez discussed avenues to enhance cooperation and expand partnerships across multiple sectors.

Discussions also addressed escalating regional tensions, particularly the Iranian-American-Israeli conflict and its implications for regional and international security. Fayez warned that any further escalation would deepen instability, leading to wider conflict and destruction.

He said Jordan rejects what he described as unjustified Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, underlining that the security of GCC states is integral to broader regional and global stability. He noted that His Majesty King Abdullah II has called for ending the war and advancing comprehensive de-escalation efforts to restore stability and achieve lasting peace.

Fayez also highlighted the King's repeated warnings to the international community regarding Israel’s exploitation of regional dynamics to escalate tensions. He pointed to developments in Jerusalem, the occupied West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for international action to halt Israeli measures, including plans to annex parts of the West Bank and attempts to alter the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The Senate President commended the level of relations between Jordan and the three countries, underscoring the importance of advancing cooperation in political, economic, and investment domains.

For his part, the Iraqi ambassador reiterated his country's firm rejection of any aggression targeting Jordan or the Gulf states, stressing that Arab security is indivisible and that regional stability is a shared priority. He said Iraq remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at ending the war and advancing diplomatic and political solutions.

He added that the Iraqi government continues to address security challenges through coordination with partner countries and stands ready to examine any information related to attacks launched from its territory against neighboring states.

The ambassador also affirmed Iraq’s rejection of using its territory as a platform for attacks against other countries, stressing its commitment to safeguarding sovereignty and reinforcing regional security.

The ambassadors commended Jordan’s role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in promoting peace, stability, and conflict resolution in the region. They also expressed their countries’ commitment to strengthening ties with the Kingdom, particularly in the economic and investment spheres, and to activating bilateral agreements in support of shared interests.
