Ammon News - The new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route (107) between Amman and Salt was launched on Saturday, in the presence of the Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Samen the Minister of Transport, Nidal Al-Qatamin, and the Mayor of Greater Amman, Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh.
The launch of this new bus route is part of the Greater Amman Municipality's plan to provide a modern, safe, and organized public transportation system. The aim is to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce the number of cars on the road between Amman and Salt by enhancing connectivity between Amman and other governorates through an advanced transportation network.
The 22.5 km route, which connects the Sweileh station to Al-Balqa Applied University, will be operated by eight modern buses on a fixed schedule.
A bus will run every 20 minutes, with a total of 80 trips daily, to ensure uninterrupted service for students, employees, and visitors.
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route allows travel from Salt to any station within Amman, via Sweileh, for 65 piasters, and from Salt to other governorates via BRT for one dinar.
The Amman-Salt Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route includes stops at the Sweileh BRT station, passing through the following locations: Al-Shishani Mosque stop, Princess Raya Street end stop, Al-Kamalia roundabout stop, Umm Al-Naaj roundabout stop, Khalil Al-Abdallat Complex stop, Al-Sarou neighborhood stop, Amman Arab University gate stop, licensing office stop, Al-Yazidiya Triangle stop, Shafa Al-Amiriya stop, Qaqish clan council stop, government offices complex stop, and Al-Quds overlook stop, before arriving at the Al-Balqa Applied University stop in Salt.
The route also includes stops at the Al-Magharib Hospital neighborhood stop, Al-Quds overlook stop, Salt Hospital stop, government offices complex stop, Qaqish clan council stop, Al-Dababneh roundabout stop, Labor Directorate stop, licensing office stop, Amman Arab University stop, Umm Al-Naaj roundabout stop, Abu Khalaf Mosque stop, Al-Kamalia roundabout stop, Sweileh District Directorate stop, before arriving at the Al-Rukabi Boys' School stop. The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) operates on an intelligent journey planning system and is equipped with free Wi-Fi throughout the trip, an electronic payment system, surveillance cameras, and features accessible designs for the elderly and people with mobility impairments. Air conditioning and safety equipment meet the highest international standards, ensuring passenger comfort.
The BRT also offers completely free transportation for senior citizens over 65 years of age.
