From First Entry to the Top Step… Tasman Asserts Its Dominance in the Rally’s Toughest Stages

23-02-2026 03:06 PM

Ammon News - In a debut that felt more like a bold statement than a trial run, the Kia Tasman stormed into competition at the 2026 Wadi Al Qamar Rally, claiming first place in the event’s most demanding stage and stealing the spotlight from seasoned rivals long accustomed to dominating desert rally podiums. Its presence was not experimental—it was a clear declaration that Tasman came to compete and to win.
Kia Tasman also secured third place in the PT4 category, a result that reflects the vehicle’s competitive readiness and its ability to challenge names with extensive experience in this type of rally, despite this being its first appearance at such a level.
Amid the harsh terrain of Wadi Rum—across sweeping sand dunes and intricate rocky passages—Tasman proved its superiority in the rally’s most difficult stage. This particular round was regarded by teams as the ultimate test of capability and technical precision. Winning it gave the overall triumph added weight and firmly established Tasman as a serious contender, even in its first participation in a navigation rally of this caliber.
What made the achievement even more impressive was the level of competition. Tasman faced rivals with long-standing histories in desert rallying, some of whom have competed for years in regional and international championships. Yet Tasman set its own pace with confidence and consistency, benefiting from evident mechanical preparedness and precise navigation systems using the roadbook and GPS waypoints.
For keen observers, however, the victory was not entirely unexpected. When Tasman was first unveiled in Wadi Rum last year, its bold design and purposeful stance already hinted that it was built for challenges of this magnitude. Today, that promise has been transformed into tangible success.
Behind the wheel was driver Yazan Juma, representing the National Arab Automotive Company team, alongside co-driver Mustafa Juma. The duo formed a seamless partnership inside the cockpit, delivering disciplined and professional performance aligned with rally philosophy—where precision and control outweigh outright speed. This harmony between driver and machine proved to be one of the decisive factors in the crucial stage.
Adding to the event’s significance, the rally was held in parallel with the Jordan Baja Championship, intensifying the competitive atmosphere and amplifying media attention.
With this victory, Kia Tasman did more than simply participate—it etched its name into one of the rally’s most memorable moments from the very first attempt, confirming that its entry into the world of desert competition is not a fleeting experiment, but the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and formidable journey.
