09-02-2026 05:12 PM

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday attended a ceremony held by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) to mark over 100 years since its founding.

His Majesty was briefed on the ACC’s most significant contributions to the national economy since its establishment in 1923, and on its efforts to regulate Jordan’s business environment, expand regional and international partnerships, and plans to capitalise on future opportunities.

The ACC represents around 42,000 commercial, services, and agricultural establishments. These enterprises, with a combined capital of nearly JD34 billion as of 2025, provide around 567,000 jobs for Jordanians.

During the ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, ACC Chairman Khalil Al Haj Tawfiq spoke about the importance of public-private partnerships in enhancing the business environment, and developing legislation that contributes to a stronger, more resilient economy.

His Majesty toured the Member Services Centre, which provides and renews certificates of origin and memberships among other services. The ACC has significantly modernised these services by leveraging digital transformation and automation to increase operational efficiency, expedite procedures, and improve user experience.

The King also visited an exhibition documenting the chamber’s history, and viewed a mural highlighting the role of the commercial and services sectors in bolstering Jordan’s investment climate and financial stability.

Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah also attended the ceremony.
