Security patrol - Highway Patrol Department (Public Security Directorate)

Ammon News - The Highway Patrol Department said a collision involving two trucks and a liquefied gas tanker caused a major fire on a highway linking Aqaba with the capital, Amman.

First Lieutenant Anas Al-Khaldi said patrol teams remain at the scene to ensure there is no gas leakage after a tanker carrying liquefied gas caught fire along with one of the trucks. Civil Defense crews have extinguished the blaze, while the road remains closed as a precaution.

Traffic from Aqaba toward Amman has been diverted from the Port Roundabout to the Customs Roundabout, while vehicles heading from Amman to Aqaba are being rerouted via the Wadi Al-Yatm Bridge.

The crash involved a tanker carrying 31 tonnes of liquefied gas and a trailer loaded with cheese on the back road near the Taten Gendarmerie checkpoint toward Amman. Both vehicles were completely engulfed in flames.

One person sustained moderate injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. Authorities are continuing to monitor the area to prevent any further risks.
