Ammon News - Irbid Environmental Protection Directorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, on Thursday handed over 435 metal garbage containers to municipalities in the Kingdom's northern governorates of Irbid, Jerash, and Ajloun.
The initiative aims to enhance efforts to preserve and protect the environment and reduce phenomenon of indiscriminate waste disposal in forests, parks, tourist and archaeological sites, nature reserves, and public spaces.
During the distribution campaign at Hassan Sports City, the directorate's chairman, Nizar Haddad, said 435 containers were distributed to the targeted northern governorates as part of a "comprehensive" national campaign launched by the Ministry of Environment.
Haddad noted Irbid municipalities received 235 bins, while Jerash and Ajloun governorates equally received 100 containers.
Representing the first phase, he noted this activity in the northern region is part a broader Ministry of Environment plan aimed at distributing 1,250 containers gradually nationwide to cut phenomenon of indiscriminate dumping. Petra
