Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi is representing Jordan on Thursday, at the launch ceremony of the Peace Council by U.S. President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Jordan announced on Wednesday its acceptance of President Trump's invitation to His Majesty King Abdullah II to join the Council.
In a joint statement with the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, and the Arab Republic of Egypt, Safadi affirmed their countries' support for the peace efforts led by President Trump and confirm their countries' commitment to supporting the implementation of the Peace Council's mission as a transitional body as outlined in the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza and as adopted by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which aims to establish a permanent ceasefire, support the reconstruction of Gaza and advance a just and lasting peace based on fulfilling the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their state in accordance with international law, thus paving the way for achieving security and stability for all countries and peoples of the region.
