Civil Status Department reports about 9mln Jordanian nationals

Ammon News - The total number of Jordanian citizens registered with the Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD), both inside the Kingdom and abroad, reached 8,907,356 in 2025.

Figures released by the department show that 48% of the population is under the age of 24, according to Director General Ghaith Al-Tayeb.

Al-Tayeb noted that “Mohammed” was the most commonly registered male name over the past year, followed by Ahmed, Youssef, Omar, and Adam. Among newborn girls, “Misk” ranked first, followed by Wateen, Salma, and Maryam.

The statistics also revealed that 145,934 citizens were under one year old, accounting for 1.6% of the total population. Meanwhile, the number of citizens aged over 95 stood at around 6,043, including 2,106 males and 3,937 females.
