PM says government committed to its financial and economic course

18-12-2025 01:27 PM

Ammon News - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan said that early discussions of the draft general budget law reflect genuine cooperation between the legislative and executive branches, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and within the framework of the Constitution, serving the national interest and supporting economic growth and development.

Speaking after the Senate’s discussion of the draft budget law during a session chaired by Senate President Faisal Fayez and attended by the Cabinet, Hassan said cooperation with the legislative branch will extend beyond approving the budget to include its implementation, in line with the government’s commitments, as well as joint work on economic policies related to the Economic Modernization Vision and its associated programs and projects.

He said the Senate contributed substantially to enriching discussions, particularly in developing the second executive program of the Economic Modernization Vision, which the government is set to launch in the coming weeks.

Hassan said the government remains committed, through the 2026 budget, to its financial and economic course based on fiscal discipline, growth stimulation, and protecting vulnerable and low-income groups.

He said the government will proceed with implementing major strategic projects in key sectors, including water, energy, transport, railways, and infrastructure, starting next year, noting that these projects will serve as a key driver of economic growth, create employment opportunities, and improve service delivery across all governorates.

The prime minister said the government aims to gradually raise economic growth rates to reach about 4 percent by the end of 2028 by accelerating major projects, stimulating investment, strengthening partnerships with the private sector, and supporting productive, value-added sectors.

He expressed appreciation for the Senate’s early submission of the draft general budget law for the 2026 fiscal year, allowing capital projects to commence at the start of the new year. He thanked the Senate president and members for their observations and proposals, noting that the government will move forward with implementing a number of them and study others.

In closing, the prime minister wished success to the national football team in the FIFA Arab Cup final, saying the team has raised Jordan’s flag through its strong performance. He also extended congratulations to Christian communities on the occasion of the holy holidays, expressing hope that the coming year will bring goodness and prosperity to the nation under its Hashemite leadership.
