Ammon News - The Israeli army claimed to have thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons from Jordan into the occupied territories near the Dead Sea.
According to the Israeli newspaper Ynet, the army stated that it shot a man who, along with three others, was attempting to smuggle weapons. The army indicated that the suspect tried to run over soldiers who rushed to arrest them.
The army added that it arrested the suspects and that the wounded man was taken to a hospital.
It explained that the three uninjured suspects appeared before the Beersheba Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, where the police requested an extension of their detention.
During the hearing, the police representative noted that the incident was "unusual," as the suspects were involved in smuggling operations to and from Jordan.
The representative also confirmed that the suspects attempted to run over an Israeli Defense Forces unit. Furthermore, authorities reported confiscating a drone and other evidence from the suspects.
