Ammon News - A shocking moment in which a bird slammed into a New Zealand reporter has been caught on camera.

Jessica Tyson, an Auckland-based journalist for Te Ao with Moana, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a clip on Instagram of herself reporting in Auckland's CBD when the unexpected happened.

The 32-year-old could be seen filming a piece to camera while wearing a bright pink blouse and a black skirt.

Her hair was blowing wildly in the very windy weather as a seagull suddenly smacked into her face, leaving her stunned.

Jessica later shared a picture of the damage done by the out-of-control bird, revealing a nasty gash above her eyebrow.
