U.S. Ambassador Visits Petra

The Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Dr. Fares Braizat, welcomed the U.S. Ambassador to Jordan , Jim Hollensteiner, today, Saturday, in the city of Petra.
During the visit, the two sides discussed prospects for joint cooperation in tourism and development, particularly in the fields of sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and supporting projects that serve the local community and enhance Petra’s status as a global tourist destination.
Dr. Braizat emphasized the importance of the partnership with the American side, expressing appreciation for the support provided to developmental and tourism projects in the Petra region, which has had a positive impact on advancing sustainable development efforts.
For his part, the U.S. Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the PDTRA in preserving the cultural heritage of Petra City and developing the tourism products. He noted that during his tour of the archaeological site, he observed the extensive work being undertaken in maintenance, tourism management, and improving the visitor experience.
The ambassador also affirmed that American nationals are among the most frequent visitors to Petra, reflecting its distinguished position on the global tourism map, and reiterated his country’s commitment to continued cooperation and support with the Jordanian side in various tourism and development fields.
