Ministry Rolls Out Streamlined Mechanism to Settle Customs Liabilities on Fixed Assets

25-11-2025 01:11 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Investment has introduced a new framework to resolve outstanding customs liabilities on fixed assets for investors benefiting from the Investment Environment Law, in close coordination with the General Customs Department.

Speaking at a meeting with industrial sector stakeholders on Tuesday, Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh described the mechanism as a strategic step to enhance procedural efficiency, reduce administrative burdens, and reinforce the Kingdom’s investment climate.

"The ministry remains fully committed to addressing investor concerns, facilitating regulatory compliance, and optimizing the business environment," Abu Ghazaleh said, highlighting the initiative’s role in expediting the processing of exempted fixed-asset customs declarations. He noted that the ministry will continue active engagement with investors to identify and remove operational bottlenecks.

Under the new framework, customs declarations submitted prior to 2002 will be cleared automatically without physical inspection or documentation, while declarations after 2002 will also receive automatic clearance but require submission of supporting customs records. The General Customs Department will oversee execution of all settlement procedures in line with the updated mechanism.

Major General Ahmad Al-Akalyk, Director General of Customs, affirmed ongoing coordination at all levels of government and with the private sector to deliver investor-friendly services, enhance operational efficiency at customs, and minimize compliance costs.

Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, welcomed the initiative, noting that the collaboration between the industrial chambers and the Investment Ministry continues to streamline processes, save time, and reduce administrative complexity for investors. Nael Al-Husami, Director of the Amman Chamber of Industry, also attended the meeting.
