17-11-2025 04:56 PM

Ammon News - Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khraisat on Monday underscored the vital support by international organizations and donors for the ministry’s priorities, noting that such efforts align with the ministry’s strategy and the Economic Modernization Vision and its 2026–2029 executive program.

At a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator in Jordan, Sheri Ritsema-Anderson, Khraisat stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in food security, reducing food loss and waste, and addressing challenges stemming from climate change and fluctuating rainfall, according to a ministry statement.

He called for prioritizing projects related to water availability, adopting modern irrigation and water-harvesting technologies, smart agriculture and technology transfer.

Ritsema-Anderson underlined the strong partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and UN agencies, affirming the UN’s commitment to aligning its upcoming programs with the ministry’s plans and priorities, particularly in food security, climate adaptation, rural community support and capacity-building for agricultural sector workers, which enhances performance efficiency and achieves sustainable development.

Representatives of international organizations presented brief overviews of their current areas of cooperation with the ministry and outlined future plans.

At the conclusion of the meeting, attended by officials from several UN agencies operating in Jordan, including UNDP, UNIDO, UNHCR, WFP, FAO, ILO, UN Women and UN-Habitat, Ritsema-Anderson reaffirmed the UN’s readiness to deepen collaboration and continue implementing programs in support of Jordan’s agricultural sector.
