Yarmouk University, Chinese Embassy Discuss Academic, Economic Cooperation

Ammon News - Yarmouk University Vice President, Amjad Al-Nasser, on Thursday met with Cheng Yongru, Economic and Commercial Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Amman, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation and joint relations between the two sides.

Al-Nasser emphasized the university’s commitment to expanding its partnerships with Chinese academic and economic institutions in line with its future aspirations and to strengthening the historic friendship between Jordan and China.

He highlighted the university’s foundation, its diverse faculties and research centers, and its vital role in advancing higher education in Jordan.

He noted that cooperation between the university and the Chinese Embassy takes various forms, including ongoing exchange visits.

He pointed out that the university recently hosted the Chinese Cultural Counselor, who took part in cultural activities organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Amman as part of the "Mid-Autumn Festival" at Al-Hussein Bin Talal Library.

Al-Nasser also highlighted that Yarmouk University was among the first Jordanian universities to introduce Chinese as a foreign language course within its bachelor’s programs, alongside French, Spanish, Turkish, and German, to equip students with linguistic skills that enhance their employability in diverse labor markets.

For his part, Cheng said the visit reflects the embassy’s keenness to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation with Yarmouk University, one of the leading institutions in Jordan and the Arab world.

He stressed the embassy’s commitment to building sustainable partnerships based on constructive ideas and joint projects.
