Airport International Group Improves Sustainability Rating, Reinforces ESG Commitment

22-10-2025 02:30 PM

Ammon News - The Airport International Group (AIG) has advanced its sustainability rating from AA 84/100 to AA 86/100, according to the latest independent assessment by the European non-financial rating agency (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ESG Score.

In a statement on Wednesday, the AIG said the improvement reflects its ongoing progress in environmental protection, social responsibility, corporate governance, and community engagement.

The AIG and its development arm, the Airport International Group Foundation, reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable development, emphasizing responsible leadership and corporate transparency. The group attributed the higher rating to several key improvements, including a notable reduction in carbon emissions, an increased share of electric vehicles in its fleet, and the implementation of various environmental initiatives.

Meanwhile, the Airport Group Corporation maintained its top-tier AAA rating, with an overall sustainability score rising from 92/100 to 93/100. The increase was largely driven by an improved "Social and Environmental Impact" component, bolstered by integrated environmental initiatives and enhanced transparency in reporting.

Airport Group CEO Nicolas Devillier said the results reflect the company’s continued efforts to integrate sustainability across its operations. "Our role extends beyond managing Queen Alia International Airport. We aim to be a driving force for positive environmental and social change," he said, adding that the AIG will continue to support Jordan’s sustainability goals and promote clean, inclusive growth.

Chairperson of the Board Omar Smadi highlighted the group’s focus on measurable community impact, particularly in the Giza area surrounding the airport. "The expansion of our environmental initiatives and improved impact reporting strengthen our credibility as a community partner and philanthropic leader," he said.

Established in 2012, the ESG Score is an independent European rating agency specializing in non-financial performance evaluation based on international standards. Its methodology emphasizes objectivity, transparency, and alignment with best global practices in environmental, social, and governance assessment.
