20-10-2025 01:43 PM

Ammon News - Minister of Transport Nidal Qatamin discussed with Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq bin Fawzan Rabiah the issue of allowing Jordanian buses to enter Saudi Arabia during the Hajj season.

According to a statement issued by the ministry on Monday, Qatamin, during a meeting held on the sidelines of the Saudi International Rail Conference in Riyadh, which saw broad Arab and international participation, underlined that the continued restriction on Jordanian buses adversely affects elderly Jordanian pilgrims and the tourism transport sector as a whole.

The Saudi minister expressed his understanding of the matter and pledged to explore positive solutions with the relevant Saudi authorities.

During a ministerial session at the conference, Qatamin highlighted the strategic importance of railways in modern transportation systems and their contribution to regional connectivity, one of the key goals of Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision.

He commended Saudi Arabia’s advancements in railway development, noting that such progress provides Jordan with greater opportunities to strengthen regional and international connectivity, reinforcing its role as a transportation hub linking north and south, and east and west.

Qatamin emphasized the strategic significance of Jordan’s location on the Red Sea, stressing that developing a national railway network has become essential as it forms a cornerstone of the transportation system and a driver of economic growth for Jordan and neighboring states.
