Jordan 'strongly' condemns Israeli extremists' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

02-10-2025 05:13 PM

Ammon News - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates "strongly" condemned the Israeli extremists' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and their provocative practices, carried out under protection of the Israeli occupation police.

The ministry said these acts are a flagrant violation of Jerusalem's historical and legal status quo and its holy sites, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

In a statement Thursday, Ministry Spokesperson Fuad Majali affirmed the Kingdom's "strong" rejection and condemnation of the Israeli hardliners' ongoing incursions and provocative practices.

Majali added that these Israeli actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and a continuation of Israel's attempts, the occupying power, to impose new facts on the ground aimed at dividing Al-Haram Al-Sharif in terms of time and space.

Majali urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and compel Israel to halt its ongoing violations on Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, its dangerous escalation in the West Bank, and its current aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Majali also called for fulfilling the Palestinian people's rights to establish an independent state on their national soil, halting the crimes committed against them, and holding their perpetrators accountable.

Majali affirmed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of ??144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.

In this context, he said Jordan-run Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the legal entity with exclusive jurisdiction to administer all affairs of the Holy Mosque and regulate access to its yards.
