Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Activities of Jordan Festival 2010 were officially launched in a cocktail reception recently organized by Friends of Jordan Festivals Society, the Festival's organizers, at wild Jordan café, in the presence of many officials, businessmen, diplomats and media representatives.
The Society announced that the activities will kick off on 30 June 2010, and continue through 30 August 2010, at the Citadel (Jabal Al Qal'aa). Where a theatre has been specially prepared for this purpose, with a capacity of 3000 people.
Jordan Festival 2010 starts with a concert titled "Greetings to Um Kolthum" by the Egyptian singer, Amal Maher. From local artists, Talal Abu Al-Ragheb, and photographer Zehrab, both are participating in a musical tableau, in addition to a performance under the title "Jordanian Night" that includes Makadi Nahhas, the bands "Shu Hal Ayyam", and Salam.
There will also be participations by the Syrian jazz band "Itar Shame'", and the Jordanian band "Omar Faqeer", in addition to Aziz Maraqa, and a joint jazz evening titled "Jazz Mix" by the trio, Khouri from Jordan, and Noah Jazz from France.
What distinguishes Jordan Festival this year the most is hosting the artist, Kathem Al Saher, and Farida, an Iraqi singer, specialized in the Iraq Maqams. As for the international music, the Festival will host Mercan Dede Secret Tribe, Pink Martini, Il Divo, and Shaolin Monks Show.
The Festival also includes a "Rock Mix" evening, with performances by Reem AL Banna from Palestine, Jadal and Humam Ammari from Jordan, not to mention the flamenco night, and the classic music night presented by the Palestinian Orchestra. (Al Bawaba)
