Ben Gvir vows to expand West Bank colonies despite ICC arrest warrant threat

28-05-2025 02:45 PM

Ammon News - Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said Wednesday he remains undeterred by reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is preparing to issue an arrest warrant against him, vowing to press ahead with the expansion of Israeli colonies in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement posted on X, the far-right politician and leader of the Jewish Power party said, “I have one clear message to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague: No arrest warrant of any kind will stop me from continuing to work for the people of Israel and the land of Israel.”

Ben Gvir added that he is neither frightened nor threatened by the possibility of international legal action. “The prosecutor in The Hague doesn’t scare me,” he wrote. “I’ll do everything I can to protect my people, even if it costs me an arrest warrant.”

“When The Hague is against me,” he concluded, “I know I’m on the right path.”

His remarks followed a report published earlier on Wednesday by The Wall Street Journal, which stated that ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan is preparing arrest warrants for Ben Gvir and Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich over their roles in expanding Israeli settlements in the West Bank — activity considered illegal under international law.

Both ministers are known for their hardline views and support for accelerating the illegal colonies in occupied Palestinian territories, drawing widespread condemnation from the international community. WAFA
