Ammon News - The Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with other security agencies, and the Anti-Narcotics Department, thwarted within its area of responsibility an attempt to smuggle narcotics loaded with remote-controlled balloons at dawn on Saturday, an official military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army announced.
The source added that Border Guard forces in the Eastern Military Zone spotted a group of balloons within their area of responsibility, intercepted them, and dropped their cargo inside Jordanian territory, and after searching the area, it was found that the balloons were equipped with remote-controlled devices and were loaded with narcotic substances. The seized items were transferred to the relevant authorities.
The source confirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army - is constantly developing its security system along the border to deal with all forms and methods of infiltration and smuggling, stressing that Border Guard personnel stand ready to confront anyone who dares to threaten the security of the nation and its citizens.
