Ammon News - A woman from Prince George’s County, Maryland, won $100,000 in the Pick 5 lottery after using the last five digits of her car’s odometer to purchase two identical tickets for the same draw.
A regular Pick 4 player, she told Maryland Lottery officials that she had previously won prizes of up to $5,000. Curious to try her luck with Pick 5, she bought her tickets at a 7-Eleven on Livingston Road in Fort Washington.
After the draw, she returned to the store to check her tickets.
“When I scanned the ticket and saw ‘$50,000 winner,’ I was stunned,” she said. “I ran out of the store and called my dad from the car.”
Each of her tickets earned her $50,000, doubling her win to $100,000.
Calling the win “a dream and a blessing,” she said she plans to use the prize money to pay off bills and her car, and to share some of it with her father.
