Customs thwart attempt to smuggle 204 artifacts at Queen Alia Airport

Ammon News - Customs personnel at Queen Alia International Airport, in coordination with security agencies, have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 204 artifacts out of the Kingdom by an Arab passenger, the spokesperson for the Jordan Customs Department announced.

In a statement on Monday, the department detailed that airport customs officers, acting on suspicion, conducted a thorough search of the passenger and discovered the hidden artifacts. Experts from the Department of Antiquities were consulted to examine the items, confirming their authenticity as antiquities. The artifacts were subsequently seized in preparation for their official handover to the Department of Antiquities.

The Jordan Customs Department underscored its commitment to combating all forms of smuggling, emphasizing that its personnel, in collaboration with security and oversight agencies, operate across all border customs centers to safeguard economic and social security.
