Ammon News - Jordan is gradually being affected by a cold and humid air mass associated with a depression, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures, increased cloud cover, and active winds, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.
The department reported that low-altitude clouds will appear today, Wednesday, with daytime temperatures remaining mild in most regions and warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will be moderate westerlies, gradually becoming active by noon, raising dust, particularly in desert areas.
By evening, cloud cover will increase, and rain is expected in northern Jordan, extending gradually to central regions. Late at night, rainfall may reach parts of the south. The report indicated that heavy rain is possible at times in northern areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Northwesterly winds are expected to strengthen overnight.
The Meteorological Department warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to dust, particularly in desert regions, and the risk of flash floods in northern areas during the night. It also cautioned about poor visibility in high-altitude regions due to low clouds touching the ground.
On Thursday, the impact of the cold air mass is expected to intensify, causing another significant drop in temperatures. The weather will be cold and partly to mostly cloudy, with intermittent rain in northern and central Jordan, occasionally extending to parts of the east and southwest. Winds will be active westerlies, with strong gusts exceeding 65 km/h in some areas, leading to blowing dust and significantly reduced visibility, particularly in the east and southeast.
Friday will see a further slight drop in temperatures, with cold and partly to mostly cloudy conditions. Scattered showers are expected in the western parts of the country. Winds will be moderate westerlies, occasionally becoming active and raising dust in desert areas.
By Saturday morning, fog is expected over high mountain areas, followed by a rise in daytime temperatures. The weather will be relatively cold in most regions but will tend toward warmth in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Low-altitude clouds will be present, and winds will be moderate northwesterlies.
The forecast indicated that today’s maximum and minimum temperatures will range between 19-8 C in East Amman, 17-6 C in West Amman, 15-7 C in the northern highlands, 14-5 C in the Sharah highlands, 23-6 C in the Badia, 19-9 C in the plains, 29-11 C in the northern Jordan Valley, 31-13 C in the southern Jordan Valley, 30-14 C at the Dead Sea, and 31-15 C in the Gulf of Aqaba. petra
