Cabinet approves housing land development project in high-demand areas

11-03-2025 01:39 PM

Ammon News - The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, approved a project to develop land for housing in areas facing population pressures and service challenges. The initiative aims to enhance infrastructure, improve services, and facilitate homeownership by selling developed land to citizens.

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation has been tasked with implementing and managing the project after registering the land in its name. The first phase will cover selected areas in Zarqa, Karak, and Ma’an governorates, with plans to expand to other regions.

Under the decision, residential land will be offered at a 50 percent reduction from its administrative value per dunum, with additional land sold at full administrative value. Buyers will also benefit from installment plans over ten years, interest-free, to ease financial burdens.

The first phase includes the Petrawi area in Zarqa, Muhay and Qatrana in Karak, and al-Muhammadiyah in Ma’an, with further expansion anticipated. Beneficiaries will receive approvals for basic services upon paying the first installment, with ownership transferred once the full amount is settled.

This project is expected to stimulate the economy and generate job opportunities by boosting the construction, infrastructure, and support service sectors, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision and improving citizens’ quality of life. Petra
